pic links

I'd like to set the links to "open in new window" but until I figure out how to do that you may want to right click the link and do it yourself.

Robin, the Mother of the Bride, posted a grip of pics on shutterfly. Here's some of the manicure party the day before.
Here's some of the reception site.
Some of the ceremony site.
Here's some of the rehersal.
The ceremony.
More of the ceremony.
We had a little photo session after the ceremony.
Here's some of the coctail hour and reception.
And a little get together at their house the next day.

Here's Lisa/Bethy's set.

I thought there was more from other people. I'll update this as i find them.

Enjoy!

minor stomach problems... ug (Friday and Saturday)

Oy...

Today is our day to chill out. We decided that we're not going to leave the hotel until we need to get dinner (they close for dinner).

Yesterday (Friday) was awesome! We played on the beach for most of the day. We got down to the water at about noon and Kel watched me build a sandcastle. We had seen some pretty cool ones earlier in the week and I decided that at some point I wanted to make a sand Minas Tirinth coming out of one of the rocks:

I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out. I have the outcropping and everything. If you look close you can see the King's house on top and the stick that's supposed to be the White Tower. If you don't know what any of this means you are most likely a healthy and functional member of society, and the only additional info I will give you is that it has to do with Kel's wedding present to me that Mark ceremoniously bestowed upon me before we left for the museum.

After the seige that the tides wrought on the first 2 of 7 levels of Minas Tirinth, we decided to go for a little sea-doo ride. That was fun. We tried to get some pics of that but when Kel gave her camera to the guy the setting got switched to video. We may be able to post some later but accidental video from a tiny camera is a bit nauseating.

After that we got lunch at The Cocodrilo (small crocodiles). They grow to be about 3 feet long in adulthood. This one's about a year and a half old. I think the food we had at this place messed me up pretty good, cuz after dinner and through the rest of the night I had to make numerous pit stops. My insides are settling down a bit now, but I've certainly had healthier times in my life that the last 12 hours...

Anyway, after lunch at the Cocodrilo we played in the ocean. It's amazing to think that this body of water reaches all the way up to and past the city. Thinking about that makes this place feel a little more familiar.

Coming back from the ocean we soaked the salt water off in the pool and hung out with 2 of the other guests here. They, coincidentaly, are from Santa Rosa. Some other guests arrived a little later from Los Angeles. Small world!

We helped them drink a bottle of Champagne (actually sparkling wine, champagne method) and played a dice game that we got for the shower that my parents hosted. We parted ways and Kel and I went down to the beach to have a wonderful seafood dinner on patio chairs in the sand with the most attentive servers we've encountered this week and a great ice cream desert. $US 40 covered the entire meal and a generous tip that promted our waiter to ask if we wanted a Kahlua on the house.

So if you ever come down here, check out Paty's Mirimar. We'll be going back for sure.

About this time is when my insides started protesting and Kel noticed that her little sunburn wasn't quite so little.

Which is why we're taking today to chill out here at our wonderful hotel.

las touristas (wednesday and thursday)

We've got some videos on the camera but no way to get them from the camera to the computer. The docking station was left in the camera bag with a bunch of the other camera stuff.

So I guess video posts to follow…

To summarize future video posts we’ve got geckos for roommates and fruit bats for neighbors! So cool!

Zihuatanejo is a fishing village on the Pacific Ocean. Many cruise lines stop here so it’s become quite the little tourist spot. Due to Hurricane Dean off the Atlantic coast and on our similar latitude (or simply the time of year as some of the locals seem to believe) the weather since we arrived has been off and on thunderstorms. The rain seems to have greatly alleviated what we thought was going to be fairly intense heat with highs and lows to be about 90s and 70s. The rain has greatly encouraged us to hang back and relax and enjoy our awesome resort. The video post will show that we have no windows, so nights with the thunder/lighting/down pouring has been interesting to say the least! Though I must say, to the credit of the architect, we have remained dry as bones in our open room.

It’s so cool there’s no way to explain it!

The ocean water is warm, though a little dirty. We’re going to try to rent a SeaDoo later in the week. Gotta get some videos of that one!

We watched Shawshank last night. That was fun. Now we know for sure that the place the ending was filmed was certainly not here!

The staff here has been great and we’ve gotten an opportunity to brush up on Spanish that we studied almost 10 years ago. I can’t decide if Mrs. Boch would be proud of my efforts at speaking with the natives, or disappointed that I’ve remembered so little! Kel took a couple of years as well, and between the 2 of us we seem to be managing pretty well. Several people here speak Spanish fluently and those that don't know enough english to coach us through our spanish.

"Tratamos de hablar espanol." We say this often. It roughy means "we're working on our spanish."

check in (tuesday)

Lack of sleep gives you a very interesting perspective. With the wedding and all my system has been turned almost completely upside down. I had very little awareness of the passage of time. All that I had last weekend was 7:00 am. My body knew what that was and got me up, when I went to bed or how much I slept.

So coming home from Santa Barbara/Santa Ynez on Monday, both Kel and I were completely exhausted. We had to make a couple of stops on the way home so we didn’t get to Walnut Creek until about 10:00 pm. We had to be at SFO at 6 am the next day for our flight to Zihuatenejo. We decided, perhaps against better judgement, to stay up most of the night and make sure we were at the airport with plenty of time to spare.

We called Ryan Edge and luckily he was available to help us unload the truck. The three of us hung out for a short while and ate some wedding cake, then Kel and I hammered through the rest of the packing. I was able to get an hour or two of sleep on the floor next to the front door before we had to split.

Tuesday consisted of traveling all day long. Traveling exhausted is not fun at all. I don’t recommend it. But at least we were able to get to our destination that much sooner. As many of you know this trip is also a bit of a pilgramage for me, as The Shawshank Redemption is my favorite movie.

We're looking forward to getting out and seeing everything.

More later,
